Everton’s season has been eventful on and off-the-pitch and transfers are set to play a big part this summer.
Especially in terms of players leaving; loan players will return to their parent clubs and there is concrete interest in Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite who could both be sold. If so, that could help them balance the books but also provide funds in excess of £100m. There are also a crop of players whose deals are up including Seamus Coleman, Idrissa Gueye and Andre Gomes, to name a few.
Therefore, with big changes potentially taking place, the free agent market could offer salvation for a club like Everton whose spending will be monitored heavily after their financial restrictions - and we’ve decided to look ahead to who could be available. All the figures are taken from Transfermarkt.
1. Luka Jovic
The AC Milan forward was once a heralded figure at Frankfurt and earned a move to Real Madrid but his value his fallen drastically after 3 disappointing years. Valued at just £6m on Transfermarkt. He signed a one year deal last summer and it looks like he will be a free agent come the end of the season. A deadly finisher in his prime, he is only 26 and could perhaps be tempted by the Premier League if he is promised a starting berth.
2. Michy Batshuayi
The Belgian was once on the books at Chelsea and has scored 36 goals in three seasons in Turkey which shows he can still find the back of the net. Aged 30, it may be his last chance to play Premier League football if he can be tempted back.
3. Ben Johnson
The right-back has been back-up for the Hammers this season but, at 24, he's ready to step up and play more regularly and Everton have Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young out of contract this summer.
4. Christian Kouamé
The Ivorian has struggled this season but posted two decent seasons at Anderlecht and Fiorentina from 2021-2023 and could be a useful wide option given the lack of them at Everton.
