As the iconic area of city enters the next phase of renovation, we take a look back at its history.

The delayed renovation works of the area around Liverpool Lime Street station are set for review next week.

Amended plans - prompted by public criticism of the original design - will be put before Liverpool City Council on Tuesday for a decision.

If the news plans are passed, a new contractor will be sought to continue the multi-million pound project.
