Christmas Eve (Tuesday December 24, 2024) can be one of the most popular dates during December for a festive night out.

When all the Christmas shopping and wrapping is done, there is no better feeling than relaxing in the pub with your tipple of choice.

For some members of the public, it is actually a festive tradition to enjoy a drink with loved ones in the local pub on Christmas Eve.

If you’re planning on hitting your local pub this Christmas Eve, then it is worth checking the opening hours of all the big chains, including Wetherspoons, Greene King and more.

Pubs can operate with their usual licenced opening hours, but can also apply for an extension for Christmas Eve by applying to their local authority for a Temporary Events Notice (TEN).

This means some pubs will see extensions to their usual Tuesday opening hours on Christmas Eve - from 11pm until midnight, for example.
