Originally from over the Mersey in Runcorn, Peach St have started to leave their mark on Liverpool starting with the release of their debut single ‘Souvenirs’.

The band is made up of Jack Parry (lead vocal/ Rhythm) Karl Richardson (lead guitar/backing vocal) Benjamin Worrall (drums/keys) and Sam Jones(bass).

We spoke to their camp about the setting for the band’s single, how the name of the group came about, and what it’s like to be a band on the Liverpool music scene in 2022.

“We recorded it [Souvenirs] in a motor museum in Liverpool,” Peach St told LiverpoolWorld.

“It was two of the bands first time in a studio so to actually be in and around was surreal and quickly boosted the decision to get booked back in ASAP to release more music.

“Having an idea of how a song should sound in your head never compares to the mastered final cut and we all love that anticipation of how it sounds.”

Karl originally wrote the song with the anticipation of no one else hearing it but then played it for the band.

“And now it’s our debut single,” Peach St revealed.

“The first lockdown meant there was a lot of time to reflect. The idea of the song is drawing similarities between memories and souvenirs, and that we use them in the same way to bring about positive emotion from the past in order to feel better about the present.”

The band’s name was inspired by a Netflix documentary, and became a name that stuck.

“Karl was watching a documentary on Netflix about a fella that gets a bomb strapped to his neck and is forced to rob a bank dressed as a pizza delivery guy.

“The street where the bombing took place was called Peach St.

“We liked the idea of something on the surface appearing bright and warm, but with a darker back story.

“We get called Pete St all the time though, so there is that. Ha Ha.”

The band is one of the newer additions to the flourishing Merseyside music scene, and this is something that they have enjoyed.

“Every band we’ve met playing in and around Liverpool has been so sound and got on well. At the end of the day we all want the same thing.

“There are some really talented bands knocking about this area and seeing what people like Crawlers are doing is definitely a great thing for this music scene.”

The aim for 2021 was a simple one, as they explain: “Last year our goal was to play as many gigs as possible, we set out that objective early on and we’re non-stop throughout.

“We wanted to build a foundation before scheduling a run of releases in 2022. We played so many gigs but we needed it.

“Two of the band were completely new to gigging and everything that comes with it, so we knew we had to be active.

“It was a really good year for us. We got a lot of the foundation set early and met with Iain at Softlad Promotions (our gaffa) and he helped us massively getting gigs etc.”

With 2022 in full swing, the band have outlined their aims for the rest of the year.

“Release more music, travel as much as we can, maybe a festival or two and just play our music to a wider audience.

“We just want to continue the effort from last year and look to build on what we have achieved so far.

“We have three singles lined up so far and many gigs to announce in the coming months.”

The response to their single has been excellent so far, as they added: “It’s been unimaginably positive. Everyone we’ve spoken to has had great things to say. Which is mad really.

“It’s like if you hear yourself talk like on a recording you think ‘is that what I sound like?’ similar effect on songs you’ve been a part of you’re much more hypercritical of your own part so to have such great feedback has been boss.”
