Liverpool City Council has pledged over £50,000 to boost a number of projects in the region towards their crowdfunding targets.

A mental health and wellbeing programme, a sensory room for children and young people and making touch tennis inclusive and accessible to all are among nine projects supported by the Mayor of Liverpool.

The projects are all crowdfunded as part of Crowdfund Liverpool, a programme run in partnership between Liverpool City Council and Spacehive.

Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson, the programme ambassador, said: “The last year has been very tough for our communities which is why it is all the more inspirational to see this fantastic range of projects come through as part of Crowdfund Liverpool. We can’t wait to see what the next round of projects will bring.

£45m boost for Bramley-Moore Dock development

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has announced plans to invest up to £45 million to support the "transformational regeneration" of large parts of north Liverpool and south Sefton by supporting work linked to the development of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Local leaders will consider a grant of up to £15 million could also offer a loan of up to £30 million towards the overall project to build the club’s new 52,888-seat stadium.

The wider stadium project will be a vital catalyst for regeneration of Liverpool’s north docks and the area around Goodison Park.

Everton forecast the project will offer a boost of more than £1 billion to the city region’s economy, attract 1.4 million visitors to the region each year and deliver an additional £237 million of social value.

The Combined Authority’s funding would come with conditions - including that Everton commit to targets for employment and training opportunities for local residents and the achievement of social value.

Finalists in John Lennon-inspired song contest head to Cavern Club

Ten songwriters are set to perform their tracks at The Cavern Club in a contest launched last year in memory of John Lennon to inspire new songs about kindness. There were more than 1500 entries from 18 countries.

The International Song for Kindness finalists will perform live at the Cavern on Saturday, 9 October.

Inspired by John Lennon’s global hit and peace anthem, Imagine, tuff.earth hope to unearth new songs that embody a message of kindness, offering musicians an exciting opportunity to gain international exposure, a showcase concert at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club for finalists and a fantastic prize for the ultimate winner.
