Keeping the kids occupied during half-term is no mean feat, especially with the weather at this time of year being so unpredictable.

So we’ve been to virtual reality experience centre, The VRVE Liverpool, to see if we can get fully immersed in another world and maybe forget about the autumnal cold for a short time at least.

It’s easy to see how popular gaming is, and long gone are the days when it’s just confined to your own home.

The recent Pokémon GO Safari Zone event in Sefton Park was a sell-out with thousands of players travelling from across the UK all on the lookout for some specially released augmented Pokémon.

The event was originally due to take place in 2020 but was delayed because of the pandemic.

COVID-19 safety standards

To keep covid safe, sessions at VRVE are spaced out to allow for the cleaning of studios.

A ventilation system in the studios brings in fresh air and expels the air out of the room.

Hand sanitiser is available throughout the venue, which visitors are encouraged to use.

What is Virtual Reality and how does it work?

Virtual Reality is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment.

Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds.
