The painting has been daubed on the side of The Empress, which towers from the pavement to the roof.

Liverpool artist John Culshaw painted the colourful artwork which stands across the road from the childhood home of the Beatle.

📰 Safer Streets Liverpool - a scheme designed to make the transport network safer for women and girls - has been launched in the city.

It follows a survey which showed 54% of women felt unsafe using public transport in Merseyside at night and nearly 42% had concerns about using it in the day.

📰 Filling up with fuel now costs drivers an average of £1.55 per litre of petrol - a record high for UK filling stations.

Figures from data firm Experian Catalist show the price hit that peak on Sunday as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continued to have repercussions around the world.
