📰 Work has began on the construction of a new station at Headbolt Lane in Kirkby.

Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram was on-hand this week to see work get underway on the £80 million scheme.

The full project includes the extension of the Merseyrail network beyond the existing Kirkby station and will see Merseyrail services run into the new three-platform station.

The station is due to open to the public in 2023.

📰 A group of environmental activists has deflated the tyres of 30 SUVs across Allerton in the early hours of Tuesday morning because they are a 'health, public safety and climate disaster'.

The action was part of a wider UK campaign by The Tyre Extinguishers group, which hit 'hundreds of vehicles' in 13 areas across the country.

📰 Filming major blockbusters like The Batman generated more than £18 million for Liverpool in the last 12 months.

Around 250 TV and film productions – including gritty small screen dramas and groundbreaking box office hits – were made in the city during 2021 despite the impact of COVID-19.
