Ofsted is the regulatory body responsible for providing schools across the country with rankings - ranging from ‘inadequate’ to ‘outstanding’.
While concerns have been shared regarding Ofsted's single-word judgements, alongside calls for reform, they are currently one way by which parents decide which schools to send their children to.
Many schools across Merseyside are rated as ‘good’, however, fewer have been awarded the top mark. We have scoured the ratings to find out which schools have received the top mark, with 27 Liverpool primary schools rated 'outstanding' in 2024.
Below are all of the Liverpool primary schools which currently hold an 'outstanding' Ofsted rating.

21. St John's Catholic Primary School, Kirkdale
Published in June 2023, the Ofsted report for St John's Catholic Primary School, states: "Pupils and children in the early years thrive in this calm school. Pupils told the inspector that their school is ‘amazing’ and ‘kind’. This year, leaders have raised attendance levels. Pupils understand how important it is to attend regularly. Most pupils attend school happily each day. Staff know pupils extremely well. Pupils feel that staff listen to them. Leaders deal with any incidents of bullying swiftly. 22. St Matthew's Catholic Primary School, Walton

23. St Sebastian's Catholic Primary School and Nursery, Fairfield
Published in November 2020, the Ofsted report for St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery states: “Outcomes for pupils are outstanding. 24. St Silas Church of England Primary School, Toxteth
