Commander for the policing operation, Chief Inspector Peter Clark, said: "The Halloween period is a typically busy time for all emergency services, but it is pleasing to see that last night saw a massive decrease in reports, especially seeing as it has taken place on a half-term weekend with fair weather."

The drop in calls continued on Halloween itself, with a 71% decrease in the number of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage calls compared to last Halloween.

Liverpool children send powerful message to world leaders

More than 100 children and young people have delivered a stark message to world leaders about the climate crisis in a video filmed across the Liverpool City Region.

The video was filmed ahead of the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow.

The children and young people were asked how they feel about climate change and environmental destruction.

Commissioned by Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, the result is a compelling snapshot that reveals how young people feel about the climate crisis; their concerns, knowledge, and hopes coupled with their messages to world leaders ahead of COP26.

Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram described the video as thought-provoking and said it sent a powerful message to everyone to act now to save the planet.

Mayor Rotheram has put children and young people at the centre of his climate thinking - with teenagers actively contributing to the city region's Climate Partnership.

A mass demonstration to highlight the climate emergency is taking place from midday this Saturday, 6 November.

The event will begin at Sefton Park, followed by a march to the city centre, before culminating in a rally in Derby Square.

The demonstration is part of a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice. It coincides with the ongoing COP26 meeting of world leaders to discuss action on climate change, which began in Glasgow earlier this week.
