The Museum of Liverpool is the primary location for the talks.

The event will also include delegates from guest countries such as South Korea and Australia and – for the first time at a G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting – a number of South East Asian countries.

🦠 It’s been one year since Liverpool’s very first COVID-19 vaccines were administered at Aintree University Hospital.

The first people to be vaccinated were hospital patients aged over 80 and some healthcare staff.

Since then, the programme has delivered over 790,000 vaccines to people living in Liverpool.

Dr Fiona Lemmens, local GP and Chair of NHS Liverpool CCG, said: ”Looking back, it’s hard to believe how far we’ve come over the past year since those very first vaccinations were given.

“An incredible 72% of all adults in Liverpool have now had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 91% of the most vulnerable patients in our city have been fully vaccinated against COVID.”

The Queen’s Birthday Honours, typically awarded in June, have been delayed due to the Pandemic, meaning Phil Garrigan had to wait until Wednesday to receive the honour from HRH, The Prince of Wales.

The award was given for leading the service’s pandemic response nationally as well as his work with children and young people.

Chief Fire Officer Garrigan had this to say: "I am very humbled to receive this honour and recognise that it is in no small part down to the incredible people I work with - locally and nationally, people who go out of their way every day to protect the public.”
