Headlines: £10.5m funding to make Liverpool City Region an ‘innovation powerhouse’

Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram has revealed his vision for the Liverpool City Region to be an innovation powerhouse - as he announced over £10 million funding for a unique project to develop ideas.

The investment has created a new company – LCR Ventures - to help innovators turn their ideas into high-growth businesses and good-quality jobs.

Wirral Council is set to make £27 million worth of savings next year in a bid to solve its budget crisis.

Last month, the Council was told to consider closing libraries, leisure centres and golf clubs, as well as selling Wallasey and Birkenhead Town Halls following a government inspection.

And an immersive art experience, known as ‘Space, The Universe and Everything’, is set to transform the inside of Liverpool Cathedral next year. 

The display will include lights, projections and sound, which will see visitors surrounded by the wonders of the universe as they walk through the building.
