Merseyside Police arrest young woman as part of murder investigation into Huyton stabbing

A man was attacked in Liverpool on Sunday and later died in hospital.

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Huyton on Sunday have arrested a young woman from Liverpool in connection with the case.

The 20-year-old has been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender and is currently in custody being questioned by officers.

Merseyside Police launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in the chest in Princess Drive at about 06:30 on Sunday morning.

North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital where he later died.

Princess drive and Aspes Road in Huyton were closed as crime scene investigators carried out forensic examinations and made house-to-house inquiries.

The man has not yet been formally identified and a post mortem is due to take place to establish a cause of death.

Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill said: “Although we have made an arrest our enquiries are still ongoing.

“If you live in the area and saw the incident take place or saw any suspicious behaviour that morning at around 06.30 please contact police as soon as possible. Any information, no matter how small, may prove vital to our investigation.”
