9. Dinah May
Former model and Miss Great Britain, Dinah May was born in Heswall 1954. She later became an actress, known for Death Wish 3 (1985), Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense (1984) and A Chorus of Disapproval (1989). 10. Bill Steer
Guitar player Bill Steer is considered a pioneer in extreme metal and death metal as co-founder of the band Carcass and his involvement in Napalm Death. 11. John Peel
Broadcaster John Peel was the longest serving of the original Radio 1 DJs, broadcasting regularly from 1967 until his death in 2004. He was born at a nursing home in Heswall on 30 August 1939 and grew up in Burton, a village on the Wirral Peninsula. He was known for championing new music and had a stage named after him at Glastonbury Festival. Allegations of sexual misconduct were made against Peel, although he was never charged, and they continued after his death.
