Police CCTV image appeal after ‘dangerous and reckless attack’ in Liverpool city centre bar

Merseyside Police has issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to following a ‘dangerous and reckless attack’ in a Liverpool city centre bar.

A 34-year-old man was reportedly punched in the face by another man in the Rubber Soul Bar on Matthew Street, at around 11.15pm on Saturday, 18 December, 2021.

He fell to the ground, suffering a head injury requiring hospital treatment. The second man then left the bar.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect responsible, and police have issued images of a man they want to speak to.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “This was a dangerous and reckless attack that has left the victim seriously injured, and such violence like this will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.

“This incident took place at a time where it would have been busy time, so if you were in the vicinity at around 11.15pm on Saturday 18 December and saw anything, then please contact us.

“I am also appealing for people to come forward if you recognise the male featured in these images. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
