£31m low carbon development to be built on former TJ Hughes site
Developers will be ‘breaking ground’ later this year to develop a multi-million pound, low carbon development on the site of a Liverpool’s iconic TJ Hughes department store.
Property developer EQUANS is to construct 258 sustainable apartments and a ground floor retail and commercial space in Liverpool’s city centre.
Work is due to begin on the scheme in late 2021.

Hide AdThe scheme will comprise of 144 one-bedroom properties, 99 two-bedroom and 15 studio apartments – all available for private rent.
There will be car parking to the basement and a garden at roof level.
The 10-storey development in the L3 postcode will be low carbon and designed with energy efficiency features.
The new building will be on the site of Hughes House, which was the modern section of Liverpool brand TJ Hughes on London Road. It will stand next to the old TJ Hughes building first opened in 1925.

Hide AdA taxi rank has been outside the TJ Hughes site for decades and EQUANS revealed they had been ‘liaising closely’ with Liverpool City Council and local taxi representatives requesting input into the overall plans.
