Watch: RSPCA officer shuts himself in hot car for half an hour to show how dogs suffer

An RSPCA officer spent 26 minutes locked in a sweltering car as the temperature soared above 50°C.

RSPCA officer Chris O’Brien locked himself in his car on a hot summer day to show just how bad conditions can get for pets left locked in cars.

He spent 26 minutes in the vehicle - less time than some shopping trips - as temperatures soared from 23°C to 57°C.

Leaving a dog in a locked car can be fatal.
