Watch: Spitfire, Lancaster Bomber and Hurricane fly over the Mersey for the Battle of the Atlantic Anniversary

Crowds gathered at Liverpool’s Albert Dock this morning, as a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane took to the skies in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic.
The impressive planes circled over the River Mersey at 11:50 and 13:15, as thousands of people watched in awe. The trio could also be seen at the Pier Head, which is currently home to a 1940s-themed military village, featuring tanks, military vehicles and free activities fro the RAF, Royal Navy and Army.

Hide AdThe Battle of Britain Memorial Flight planes also will perform a number of flybys on Sunday (May 28):
- 12.30pm - Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Spitfires, Hurricanes & Lancaster Bomber) flypast (three passes)
- 1.50pm - Swordfish display
- 5.20pm - Swordfish display
On Sunday, you can also see a March for the Medals starting from Pier Head at 13:30 and a number of visiting ships.
