Weather and transport warnings as heavy rain hits Liverpool - five-day forecast for the region
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Liverpool and the North West with heavy rain causing flooding and travel disruption across the region.
Monday’s downpour caused issues with surface water on roads across the city and pump trucks were sent out to clear flooding from Ormskirk Road, outside Aintree Retail park.

Hide AdMeanwhile, North West Motorway Police issued a warning to drivers that conditions are hazardous across the region.
“We are getting wide spread reports of flooding on the network across the region,” the organisation said.
“This is making driving conditions quite hazardous, please adjust your speeds according to road conditions and make the gap between yourself and the vehicle in front a lot bigger.
“Brakes and tyres don’ t work as well when wet.”
The rain is expected to resume through the night but should ease as we head into Tuesday.

Hide AdMonday’s wet and windy start should become a bit brighter but we will still see heavy showers into the afternoon. The coastal gales will gradually ease but there will be further rain overnight as temperatures plummet from around 11°C to 4°C.
There will be fewer showers and lighter winds heading into Tuesday and of the rain will be focused on coastal parts of the region. Temperatures should peak at around 11°C in the early afternoon.
The sun should return on Wednesday as the weather gets a bit drier although the overall temperature will fall to around 10°C as we head deeper into autumn.
Thursday is expected to be clear and bright with a sunny morning giving way to a cloudy afternoon but it will still be cold - top out at around 9°C by mid afternoon, with the risk of overnight frost.
Cloud cover returns on Friday but it is expected to be dry with a gentle breeze and the temperature should rise again to about 12°C.
