Merseyside weather update Friday, 7 January, plus five-day forecast: Light showers and cloudy

Towards the end of the week, it's a wet picture with drizzle expected across the region and it's looking overcast in St Helens. Temperatures sitting between 7°C and 8°C.

As we move toward the weekend, and as temperatures cool down, it's not just showers we'll be seeing; there's a chance of sleet. Temperatures are expected to be around 6°C, 7°C in Southport.

And looking at the five-day forecast now, and we are expecting it to be rather damp. As temperatures cool down, that light drizzle turns into patchy sleet.

At the beginning of the weekend, we could see some heavy downpours before things ease up with just some light drizzle expected on Monday. Temperature wise we're looking at lows of 6°C and highs of 9°C.
