Met Office snow forecast - Temperature in Liverpool to plummet over coming days

As Christmas gets closer, there is one question on everyone’s mind - will we get snow this year?

It was a certainly a frosty start to the week this morning in Liverpool and there have been many reports that the UK might experience five days of snowfall.

Just last week weather expert Tyler Ros from AccuWeather confirmed that it is likely we could experience snow by the end of November: “We do have to watch a cold snap that appears to move into eastern Europe next week.”

“If this bleeds westward towards the UK then temperature will be near to slightly below normal during this stretch”

While there’s no snow as of yet, the cold snap has definitely arrived with a chilly and frosty start on Merseyside.

Tonight (Monday)

The dry but chilly weather is set to continue into the evening with some light winds picking up.

Northern areas will experience cloudier weather which will help moderate the temperature, however, southern areas will be colder with some frost developing.

Temperatures are set to drop as long as 0°C

Tuesday

Liverpool will have thick clouds develop across most areas which will result in some light showers later in the day. The temperatures will be cool and average for this time of year.

Maximum temperatures of 9°C.

Outlook Wednesday - Friday

Middle of the week will see more clouds before more rain arrives later on Wednesday.

Thursday will be brighter however it will have colder temperatures and some light wind.

The bright spells will be short lived with more rain expected to arrive on Friday.

BBC 14-day forecast

This forecast dashes hopes of snow as we are forecast to have above freezing temperatures and lots of rain throughout this period.

There are some sleet showers expected to arrive around the beginning of December. However, it will be short lived with rain and sunny spells forecast for the rest of the 14-day period.

November 26 to December 5

From the 26th the north west regions can expect rain and strong winds that will extend to most UK areas. Higher northern areas may experience some snow.

This period will feel cold, and will be accompanied by strong winds with some coastal gales possible in the north west.

Winds and cold conditions will persist in north and north west areas. These areas can also expect rain and showers on high ground, some showers may move lower.

December 6 to 20

Northern areas of the UK will experience most of the unsettled weather. There will be showers or longer spells of rain as well as strong winds during this period.

High pressure is likely to remain in the south giving dry and settled weather.

Temperatures will vary across the UK with longer mild spells. Cold spells will also be around but will be shorter with some wintry weather forecast.

There is a risk of snow and ice in northern areas. Most areas will experience overnight frost and fog during calm spells.
