Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that ‘it's better to have a Ferrari than a Fiat 500’ amid his shock Everton departure to return to Real Madrid.

And the Italian's comments have been seen as a thinly-veiled dig by plenty of Toffees on social media.

However, the three-time Champions League-winning boss made a surprise exit just 18 months later.

Following a disappointing 10th-place finish in the Premier League last season,Ancelotti left Merseyside out of the blue to rejoin Real Madrid.

But he compared to being in charge of Real like owning a Ferrari sports car, which makes the job easier than driving a small motor such as a Fiat 500.

Ancelotti told reporters: “A coach's job is complicated, yes, but if you have to race, it's better to have a Ferrari than a Fiat 500. That's what I feel right now, coaching Real Madrid.

“Every coach feels pressure. Coaches are fired every week, that's part of our job.

“But I have the responsibility and the excitement of coaching the biggest club in the world.”
