Duncan Ferguson gave Evertonians a classy pre-match gift before today’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.
The fans’ favourite was appointed caretaker manager earlier this week after the sacking of Rafa Benitez.
It’s the second time he’s taken up such a role, having also held the reins in December 2019.
And although Ferguson’s period in charge got off to a disappointing start, he showed his generosity ahead of kick-off.
The former striker, who scored 72 goals for Everton during his playing career, put money behind the bar at the The Winslow Hotel pub, in Goodison Road, for fans to enjoy their first drink.
A post from the pub’s Twitter account said: “MASSIVE BIG thanks to the legend that is Duncan Ferguson #BigDunc #everton for buying all our customers their first drink this morning .
“Amazing generous gesture, that’s a measure of the man . COYB.”
Ferguson did similar at The Brick in County Road.
A tweet from The Falcon Blues’ supporter account said: “My mate’s just went The Brick for a pint.
“Gets served and the bar staff tell him it’s on Duncan. Wow! Heard so many similar stories from pre season European trips too. What a fella.”
