Reported Everton target Harry Souttar has suffered a long-term injury - which will almost certainly put paid to any sort of swoop in the immediate future.
The Stoke City centre-back is set for a prolonged period on the treatment table after picking up a setback on international duty.

Hide AdSouttar sustained a knee injury representing Australia in their goalless draw with Saudi Arabia last week.
Stoke have since issued a statement revealing that the 23-year-old is highly unlikely to play again this season.
Potters boss Michael O’Neill told the club's website: “Harry has been outstanding for us but he knows that his season has almost certainly come to a premature end.
“I’ve spoken to him and although he’s bitterly disappointed, he knows that injuries are unfortunately part and parcel of the game.”

Hide AdEverton have been linked with a move for Souttar in recent months.
According to Fichajes, the Toffees had been readying a £20 million-plus bid for the former Fleetwood Town loanee in the summer.
Given the nature of Souttar's setback, there would be a significant degree of risk signing him without seeing how he fares after his recovery.
A return to action with Stoke seems the likeliest for Souttar.

Will Everton sign a new centre-back next summer?
Benitez is well-stocked in terms of numbers, although there are some question marks.
Yerry Mina's future remains uncertain. The Colombia international has less than two years on his deal and has been linked with AC Milan.
There are also doubts over Mason Holgate’s future at the club after he was sent off in the 0-0 stalemate with Tottenham - just 10 minutes after being brought on as a subtitute.
Meanwhile, there have been concerns over the number of goals Everton have conceded from set-pieces this season and more commanding defenders could be what Benitez wants.
