Everton confirmed that in July that a player had been suspended pending a police investigation.

The player, who's not been named for legal reasons, remains suspended by the club.

The Everton statement said: "Everton can confirm it has suspended a player pending a police investigation.

"The club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time."
