Everton’s new American-themed shirt: how to buy, why’s it been made, cost, will the first team wear it?

Everton have launched a limited edition shirt to celebrate the club's long-standing ties with the United States of America.

The jersey has been inspired by fans across the pond and will be available to purchase the item to the general public from today.

What does it look like?

Designed by kit makers Hummel, the two-tone blue shirt features the USA flag's famous stars and stripes.

It has been made to show the recognition and value of supporters from America who follow Everton from afar.

The Blues toured America during pre-season on several occasions, most recently in July when they won the Florida Cup.

Will the first team wear it?

Rafa Benitez's side will don the jersey during the warm-up ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Watford at Goodison Park (15.00 BST).

How can I buy one?

The shirt goes on sale via evertondirect.com and club stores, Everton One and Everton Two, from 15.00 BST today.

It'll be available to Toffees who are Stateside from 10.00 Eastern Time and 07.00 Pacific Time.

Members of Everton’s US Supporters’ Clubs and US-based Everton Official Member were able to snap one up yesterday.

How much do they cost?

Adult shirts are priced at £35 with juniors costing £30.

Everton midfielder Tom Davies said: “There's definitely a special connection between Everton and our fans in the United States.

“Me and Dom (Calvert-Lewin) went to New York Fashion Week last year just before the pandemic hit and we met Evertonians at the airport, at a museum, at a fashion show we went to - there were Toffees everywhere we went.

“It's great for us as players to know we've got such strong support in the United States, and we know the effort lots of those fans have made to get over to Goodison Park and watch us live. That obviously hasn't been able to happen over the last year or so but we can't wait to see them when they are able to travel over again, hopefully very soon.

“In the meantime, I think this shirt is a great way for us to acknowledge that support from the States and I really hope the fans over there like it.”
