Gbamin has endured a difficult period since arriving at the Toffees for £25 million in the summer of 2019.

He’s been plagued by various injuries and managed just eight appearances in total.

Having been deemed surplus to requirements by Everton boss Frank Lampard, Gbamin now aims to reignite his stalled career in Moscow.

And the Ivory Coast international revealed that Goodison Park team-mate Salomon Rondon - who netted four goals during a loan spell at CSKA last season - helped convince him to join the club.

Gbamin told the CSKA’s website: “My agent contacted the club, we settled the formalities in a short time. I am very glad that I moved to PFC CSKA, I want to give the team everything I am capable of.

“I asked him [Rondon] about the city, about the people who play and work at PFC CSKA.

“He gave the most positive characteristics to Moscow, the club and the fans who passionately support the team and said that I would really like everything.

“I am aware that Lasina Traore performed here, and I generally correspond with Seydou Doumbia, I call up, we played for the national team together. I haven’t asked him about PFC CSKA yet, he’ll be surprised that I’m here.

“I’m in good shape now, although I haven’t played for a long time, but I’ve been training. I hope that I will show the fans everything I can do.”
