The Toffees have confirmed that the defensive pair are absent because of respective injuries. Branthwaite is believed to have sustained a quad issue in training. The centre-back only made his first appearance of the season in last week’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, having had groin surgery in the summer. Branthwaite is replaced by Michael Keane in central defence.

Mykolenko, meanwhile, is not involved. It means Everton are without a regular left-back and Ashley Young features in the role. With Seamus Coleman (calf) absent and Nathan Patterson on the road to recovery from a serious hamstring issue, James Garner looks set to operate at right-back.

Everton go in search of a second league victory and aim to take momentum into the international break.
