Istanbul Basaksehir’s approach to sign James Rodriguez on loan from Everton has been confirmed.

Although the transfer window has shut, a switch to Turkey remains an option for the Colombian, who has been told he’s not in Rafa Benitez’s Goodison plans.

Basaksehir are keen to sign Rodriguez before the Super Lig’s deadline day tomorrow.

Ahmet Bulut - who is the partner of ex-Real Madrid playmaker’s agent Jorge Mendes in Turkey - confirmed the interest but an agreement will not be easily reached. (AS)

Besiktas have reached an agreement to re-sign Everton striker Cenk Tosun in January.

Tosun moved to Goodison from the Turkish outfit for a reported £27 million in January 2018 but has struggled to make an impact.

He was loaned back to Besiktas last January and netted three goals in four games before suffering a second serious knee injury in as many campaigns.

Tosun continues his rehabilitation and the Black Eagles were reportedly keen to sign him this summer.

Former Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has claimed he turned down a new five-year contract.

The Spaniard scored three goals in 143 appearances during his five years at Anfield and was part of the Reds’ Champions League-winning squad in 2019.

Moreno left that summer on a free transfer to Villarreal that summer, though, having fallen behind Andy Robertson in the left-back pecking order.

But he revealed Jurgen Klopp offered him a long-term deal before his exit.

He told El Periodico Mediterraneo: “In my fifth year, I was offered to renew, for another five years. I said no. We’d had many years in England.

“I have three children and spoke with my wife. We decided that the best thing was to return to Spain. I just wanted to go back to Spain.”

Dobbin is out of contract at the end of the season and his situation has alerted sides in England and Germany.
