Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino this summer, according to El Nacional.

Despite their financial struggles, the La Liga club are thought to be in the market for attacking players following Sergio Aguero’s retirement.

Xavi’s side have already snapped up Ferran Torres from Manchester City and are now looking to sign another Premier League star in Firmino.

The Brazilian has 18 months remaining on his contract and El Nacional claim that he would be available for around €20 million (£16.6m).

Firmino returned to the starting line-up in the Reds’ Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Arsenal last week, though failed to make an impact.

The attacker has scored seven goals in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick against Watford in October.

Could Liverpool sell Firmino?

Roberto Firmino has been a vital part of Liverpool’s success since his arrival from Hoffenheim in 2015.

The forward has been superb alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the front three, but his form has dipped slightly over the last year or so.

The 2021/22 campaign has been frustrating for Firmino, with his season hampered by injuries and Covid issues.

The Brazil international has often struggled to secure his place in the starting XI, with Diogo Jota shining in his absence.

With Firmino turning 31 this year, Liverpool could be prepared to move him on and bring in a younger replacement - though it would certainly be a tough one to take for the fans.
