Ever since Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino helped fire Liverpool to two successive Champions League finals - in 2017-18 and 2018-19 - the question of whether the Reds’ attacking triumvirate is the best in world football has raged.

Opinions have been split.

This season the Reds front three are up against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain trio Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, plus Real Madrid threesome Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Vinicius Junior.

But there is an interesting added twist to this year’s argument.

Has Diogo Jota now superseded Roberto Firmino in the Liverpool line-up? Is it now Salah, Mane and Jota that represent the Reds in the best front three in the world debate?

The former Wolves forward has played 16 games this season compared to Firmino’s 11 and has scored eight goals while his Brazilian teammate is stuck on six until he can recover from a thigh injury.
