There have been several changes made at the stadium in a bid to improve the match-day experience since Kopites were last in attendance en masse.

Here’s all the key information that you need to know if you’re heading to the game.

Near Field Communication passes

In accordance with Premier League guidance, Liverpool will adhere to a digital-first policy for the 2021-22 season.

Season-ticket and membership cards have been scrapped, while there will be no paper tickets or print-at-home option.

Instead, supporters will use Near Field Communication (NFC) tickets or photo idea cards to enter the stadium.

NFC entrance was trialled in friendlies against Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna earlier this month. Both kick-offs were delayed because of problems with fans getting into the ground.

However, a full review of the trials has been completed and Liverpool are satisfied they’ve made the correct changes to ensure problems do not occur again.

Supporters should download their digital ticket onto their smartphone before heading to the stadium.

The digital ticket goes into either your Apple Wallet or Google Pay app depending if you have an iPhone or Android smartphone.

At the turnstile, fans simply have to hold their phone to the reader - similar to making a contactless payment - which will allow them entry.

There will be NFC help checkpoints around Anfield if fans need support.

The Kop Bar is also operating as a central hub where supporters can go for technical advice and support. It opens at 9.30 am.

Staggered entry times

To ensure the flow of fans around the ground for the first game back is controlled, staggered entry times have been put in place.

Supporters will be contacted by the club via email of their entry time. They are encouraged to enter during their allocated slot.

Fans are also asked to arrive at Anfield around 90 minutes before kick-off to reduce queues.

Food and drink

Liverpool have reduced the price of a pint inside Anfield.

It'll cost just £2.90 for a beer, which is the cheapest in the Premier League.

Supporter group Spirit of Shankley have expressed concerns regarding the impact of slashing beer prices will have on local pubs and businesses. They have been assured the measures are only temporary.

Food and drink will also be served in the stadium, but no outside food containers are allowed against Burnley.

Meanwhile, the Reds are now serving meat-free pies made by Quorn to encourage fans to make climate-friendly food choices.

Former Liverpool players John Barnes and Neil Ruddock joined forces with the country’s leading meat alternative brand for the launch.
