Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The England starlet has been touted as a potential transfer target for the Reds for some time, with speculation piqued by Jurgen Klopp’s recent admission that he is in need of reinforcements in the centre of the park.

An update from The Telegraph claims that Liverpool are leading the race to sign the teenager next summer, with Anfield chiefs said to be big admirers of the emerging talent.

Bellingham signed for Dortmund from Birmingham City for around £22.5 million in 2020, and has since gone on to make 99 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring 13 goals and assisting 18 more.

Despite his age, the midfielder has already been capped 15 times for England too.

But as talk mounts over a potential transfer what has Bellingham himself said about his future?

Bellingham has hinted at his ambition to play for for one of the very best sides in European football before.

Speaking on the BVB Podcast, the midfielder said: “You can have all the money you want from playing football and you can buy whatever you want, but being appreciated like that for creating so many memories for so many people.

“Winning the league, however many cups and winning the Champions League, that lives longer than any car you could buy or any house you could buy.

“That’s the thing that motivates me to create memories in football that I will remember forever and other people will remember forever.”

Since moving to Dortmund, the only trophy Bellingham has lifted is last year’s German Cup.

If his intentions truly are to win as much silverware as possible, it is not inconceivable that he may look to bolster his trophy haul elsewhere.

More recently, however, the teenager has sought to play down any potential exit talk out of respect for his current employers.

When quizzed on his future prior to Dortmund’s Champions League clash with Manchester City this week, Bellingham said: “The club have done loads for me and made me feel very welcome since I first came and gave me the opportunities to develop even further. To look past that and into the future would be disrespectful.

“It’s not something I am thinking about, to be honest.”
