Liverpool defender absent from training as youngster added to Champions League squad

Ibrahima Konate was missing from training footage ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan.

The Reds welcome the Serie A giants to Anfield tomorrow ahead of the last-16 second-leg clash (20.00).

Jurgen Klopp’s men hold a two-goal advantage in the tie after defeating Inter 2-0 at the San Siro last month.

For the visit of the Nerazzurri, Liverpool have been handed a triple injury boost.

Thiago Alcantara (hamstring), Roberto Firmino (muscle) and Joel Matip (illness) were all unavailable for Saturday’s 1-0 defeat of West Ham.

The trio were all spotted training ahead of the Inter game.

But Konate was the only absentee for the Reds.

The Frenchman has made 18 appearances since his £36 million arrival from RB Leipzig last summer - and started the past two matches.

Rhys Williams, who had his loan spell at Championship side Swansea cut short in January, was involved in the session.

The centre-back has subsequently been added to Liverpool’s Champions League List B squad.
