Jurgen Klopp provided a Liverpool injury update ahead of the Champions League clash against Ajax.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Darwin Nunez is available for Liverpool’s Champions League showdown against Ajax this evening (20.00 BST).

The striker missed the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest last weekend with a tight hamstring.

Having scored in his previous two Reds outing, Nunez will provide Klopp with a big boost. Liverpool need just a point at the Johan Cruyff Arena to move into the knockout stage of the competition.

Klopp said: “He trained normal yesterday and today. So, yes, in this moment, he is available.”

Liverpool are also boosted by the return of Ibrahima Konate, who has missed the previous three games.

Klopp said on the centre-back: “He is here. Ready to play minutes, I would say. Could play the first minutes but that makes not too much sense - but minutes, yes. That’s it, nothing new yet.”

However, Thiago Alcantara is still unavailable with an ear infection, while Klopp revealed Joel Matip (calf) is still unavailable.

Naby Keita is now back in training alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who came off the bench for his first appearance of the season against Forest.

Both are not registered to play in the Champions League group stage because of their previous injuries - and need more training to be in contention to start games regardless.

Klopp said: “Naby needs to train, same with Oxlade. They are not in the Champions League squad because everybody told me they’d be out for long. Yes, they are back which is good [but] not back to play but to be around and play a few minutes.”
