Liverpool have reportedly turned down a late bid from Nottingham Forest for goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Reds believe that Forest’s offer did not come close to meeting their valuation for the Republic of Ireland international. Kelleher is No.2 at Anfield and behind Alisson Becker in the pecking order. Liverpool have also signed Giorgi Mamardashvili for up to £29 million but he will stay on loan at Valencia this season.

That decision has seemingly promoted Forest to revive their interest in Kelleher, having had an offer rebuffed in January. The Athletic reports that the City Ground outfit made a cash offer and were prepared to include USA international Matt Turner in the deal to not leave Arne Slot’s side short in the goalkeeping department. However, Liverpool are not looking to sell Kelleher before tonight’s 23.00 BST transfer deadline. The 25-year-old is valued between £25-30 million by the Anfield hierarchy.

Kelleher has provided back-up for Alisson over the past four years and has admitted he is keen to get regular minutes under his belt. But last term, he made a total of 26 appearances and was highly impressive while deputising for the injured Alisson - and helped the Reds win the Carabao Cup for the second time in his career. For those reasons, it seems Liverpool are reluctant to allow the Cork-born stopper to leave. He has two years remaining on his contract.
