Liverpool could be set to welcome back Harvey Elliott across the next few weeks after his recent injury.
Arne Slot was gutted about the 21-year-old’s absence as he was side-lined with a broken foot which has seen him miss seven games so far. Speaking at the time, he relayed his feelings about the injury. “Harvey’s injury is, of course, not just a big disappointment for him but also for us. He didn’t play a lot in the first three games but he showed himself really well in pre-season.”

Dominik Szoboszlai has played almost every game there and has endured mixed results and it is clear he could do with someone to swap with to ensure he isn’t run into the ground.
That could soon be a reality as Liverpool’s official social media channel released a Elliott-focused video of him looking strong in the gym, hinting at his imminent return. However, a return to playing could be a few weeks off as he was seen running with a coach rather than training with the squad and we will need an update from Slot at his press conference later this week to know the full extent of the details around his recovery
Last season, he was a favourite of Jurgen Klopp’s. Despite not being a regular starter, he featured in all but five of their 58-game season and was part of every matchday squad, showcasing both his availability and his importance to the squad. 11 assists and four goals was his best return and he also managed a hat-trick of assists against Sparta Prague, a wonder goal against Spurs, a late winner against Crystal Palace as well as 11 goal contributions in seven games for the U21 England side.

He’s been on a sharp ascent and he offers a cuter and technical threat than Szoboszlai, giving Liverpool a different dynamic. Where some games have passed the Hungarian by, he would be a brilliant substitution option to inject some ingenuity into the side when things begin to get tougher - such as during their next 10 games that include Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Tottenham, RB Leipzig, Brighton and Manchester City.

Either way, Elliott’s return will bring in a fresh energy and a different option to help them consolidate their strong start.
