Rumour rated: the number-nine position was a concern during the summer but Jurgen Klopp eschewed strengthening.
There are some fears Liverpool lack a genuine goalscorer, with Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota the current options.
In truth, it would be no surprise if the Reds have already put the feelers out for Adeyemi at this early stage.

Reds battling City for Nunez
Darwin Nunez is wanted by Liverpool and Manchester City, claims the Daily Star.
The 22-year-old bagged 11 times in 37 games for Benfica last season and has already netted six goals this term.
He has a £125 million release clause but City are thought to be willing to test the Portuguese outfit's resolve by bidding £75 million.

But a price tag of £75 million looks steep. Too steep, in fact.
That would match Liverpool's club-record fee they paid for Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool don't part with that sort of cash lightly. They'd have to think Nunez could transform the team as van Dijk did.
Vlahovic an option

Hide AdSticking with front men, the Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool could make an offer for Dusan Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old has reportedly turned down a new deal at Fiorentina.
Vlahovic has already bagged seven goals in 11 games for the Serie A side this season.
Tottenham and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest.
- Rumour rated: this one seems more in Liverpool's range.

The Serbia international has proven himself as a prolific goalscorer in Italy and has plenty of room for improvement at his current age.
Perhaps he might not be top of the shopping list but it'd be a shock if Liverpool haven't scouted an exciting, upcoming marksman.
