Liverpool are back in Champions League action when they travel to Porto on Tuesday night.

The Reds made a fine start to their Group B campaign - handed the title the ‘Group of Death - with a 3-2 win over AC Milan at Anfield.

Porto, meanwhile, held Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw.

Jurgen Klopp’s men would have been disappointed to have dropped points at Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday when held to a 3-3 stalemate and will be determined to bounce back.

Here’s all you need to know ahead of the trip to Portugal.

What’s the team news?

Liverpool will once again be without midfielder Thiago. The Spain international is sidelined with a calf injury until after the international break.

Naby Keita also missed the trip to Brentford and he’s a doubt.

Harvey Elliott continues his recovery from his long-term ankle injury.

Roberto Firmino made his return from a hamstring injury in the capital and he is in contention to start.

Neco Williams could make the bench as he continues his recovery from a knock.

Could a surprise be sprung?

No-one expected Virgil van Dijk to be rested against AC Milan but indeed that was the case.

With a crunch clash against Manchester City at the weekend, Klopp could again rotate some of his key men.

If van Dijk or centre-back partner Joel Matip is given the evening off, Joe Gomez is likely to come into the team.

Divock Origi was a surprise starter against Milan. He could again be handed a start in place of Sadio Mane, who was well below his best against Brentford.

Kostas Tsimikas could also replace Andy Robertson at left-back.

What about the opposition?

Porto will be without defender Chancel Mbemba. He was sent off in their 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid and is suspended.

Much-maligned centre-back Pepe sustained an injury in that game. He was on the bench for Porto’s 2-1 victory over Gil Vincente on Friday and came on for the final six minutes.

The Estádio do Dragão has been happy hunting ground for Liverpool in recent years.

The Reds routed Porto 4-1 at the stadium in the quarter-final second leg on the way to Champions League glory in 2019.

The previous year, Klopp ran out barnstorming 5-0 winners.

A draw against Atletico Madrid shows Porto could be difficult to break down and have a potent threat in Luis Diaz in attack.

But Liverpool should prove too much. 2-0 to the visitors.
