How the Premier League table would look for Liverpool, Everton and others if VAR didn’t exist

Jurgen Klopp will sign off his Liverpool career with an impressive third place finish as he bids farewell to the Kop after an unforgettable eight and half year reign as manager.

In his time at Anfield, Klopp has helped mastermind Liverpool’s first league title in 30 years, one Champions League, one FA Cup and two League Cups, with the most recent one coming this season against Chelsea.

However, Klopp will feel that his efforts deserved more trophies. He was narrowly beaten to two league titles by the finest of margins in 2019 and 2022, lost two Champions League finals to Real Madrid and was beaten by Sevilla to the 2016 Europa League title.

For large periods of this season, it also looked like the Reds were on course for another league title and there will be certain watershed moments that Klopp will rue at the end of the season such as the Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal against Tottenham in October along with Mohamed Salah’s disallowed goal against Chelsea on the opening day of the season.

With that in mind we take a look at how the Premier League table would look without VAR and what implications it has had on Liverpool’s title pursuit in Klopp’s swansong season.
