Liverpool will undoubtedly have seen Saturday’s draw against Brighton as two points dropped.

The Reds looked like they were going to cruise to another rampant victory after going two goals after 24 minutes. Goals from Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane put Jurgen Klopp’s men on the way to success.

However, Liverpool failed to hold onto their lead. Enock Mwepu reduced the arrears for the Seagulls four minutes before half-time before Leandro Trossard completed the comeback on 65 minutes.

Klopp admitted was unhappy with the body language of some of his players as the game wore on.

The Reds have a quick turnaround when they host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday (20.00 GMT).

Surely the Liverpool manager will mull over making changes to his side as he looks for improvements.

Here are three players who are most at risk of losing their spot.

Ibrahima Konate

It was a surprise that the £36 million summer signing from RB Leipzig started against Manchester United. However, he delivered a powerful performance and helped nullify Cristiano Ronaldo in the thumping 5-0 win.

As a result, Konate earned a second straight league start - but couldn't hit the same heights as the previous week.

Positionally, the 22-year-old struggled when theBrighton mustered a counter-attack.

In the third minute, Konate was poorly positioned and that allowed Solly March to beat the offside trap. Luckily, Alisson made a fine stop to his left.

Then for Trossard's goal, Konate got dragged out of position and left a gaping hole in the area of the pitch he should have commanded.

Those mistakes certainly can't be afforded against Atletico, who boast two of the world's best forwards in Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Joel Matip has been one of Liverpool's best performers this season and can count himself unlucky being left out of the past two games.

He's surely a contender to be restored alongside Virgin van Dijk in the heart of the defence.

Klopp could also turn to Joe Gomez, who featured in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Preston last week.

Andy Robertson

The Scotland international is the undisputed first-choice left-back at Anfield.

However, Robertson was far from his best against Brighton.

Going forward, he lacked the threat that we’ve seen umpteen times since his arrival from Hull in 2017.

Meanwhile, his set-piece deliveries left a lot to be desired. One late free-kick, in particular, was easily swallowed up by visiting keeper Roberto Sanchez.

Defensively, Robertson was suspect for Trossard’s equaliser.

As Brighton broke at pace, Robertson dropped back several yards to try to cover the danger rather than keep in line with Virgil van Dijk. Had Robertson done that, Trossard would have been well offside.

Not only that but Robertson was skipped past Trossard far too easily inside the box before the Brighton forward finished coolly beyond Alisson.

Klopp’s talked about the close battle between Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas for the berth on the left-hand side of the rearguard in the past.

The Greek’s game-time has been limited again this season but has impressed when making starts against Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Klopp could feel it’s time to restore Tsimikas to his starting line-up and freshen things up.

Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian has rejuvenated his career somewhat at Anfield after a difficult 2020-21 season.

But Firmino was well below his best in the Brighton encounter. He struggled to make the ball stick under his feet and rarely brought others into play. That’s usually his best attribute.

Then there was a huge gilt-edged chanced squandered in the 16th minute. When he was slipped in and left one-on-one with Sanchez, Firmino chipped his effort well over the bar.

According to WhoScored’s match ratings, only Curtis Jones (6.30) was statistically worse than Firmino (6.31) of those who started.

Given Liverpool's injury problems in midfield, Jones will almost certainly retain his place by default.

That can't be said for Firmino, though, with Diogo Jota available.

The Portuguese netted at Man Utd and was unlucky to have lost his place for the Brighton clash.

It was Jota who won the penalty for Mo Salah's match-winner in the reverse clash against Atletico last month and that might well come into Klopp's thinking.
