Federico Chiesa could make a return to Liverpool’s squad when they face Real Madrid in the Champions League tomorrow.
The winger has had a difficult time with injuries since joining the Reds from Juventus for £10 million in the summer transfer window. After being frozen out by the Serie A club, Chiesa joined short of match fitness. After making three appearances, he sustained a muscle injury and has missed Liverpool’s previous 10 matches.

Chiesa was involved in parts of training before last weekend’s 3-2 win at Southampton but was not risked. But with UEFA rules permitting 12 substitutes compared to the Premier League allowing nine, it may be a time for the Italy international to at least be involved in match-day proceedings.
Chiesa was spotted in today’s open session at the AXA Training Centre. The 27-year-old was the first outfield player onto the pitches and it appeared he would be training individually. Chiesa underwent exercises with lead strength and conditioning coach Chris Black. However, Chiesa would then join Mo Salah, Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk and Co. and worked with the former during a drill with medicine balls.
Along with Chiesa, Trent Alexander-Arnold could be back in Liverpool’s squad against Real. The right-back missed out against Southampton because of a hamstring issue. Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas are all set to miss out.
