Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip were all missing for the 2-2 draw at Chelsea last weekend after testing positive for coronavirus.

Manager Jurgen Klopp was also self-isolating after a suspected positive test so assistant boss Pep Lijnders took charge.

Now the problem has deepened this week and Liverpool were forced to postpone their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg away to Arsenal.

In addition, Liverpool have shut down their training ground and Lijnders has contracted Covid.

Still, the FA Cup tie will take place at Anfield on Sunday (14.00) after a pre-match press conference was confirmed for tomorrow afternoon.

However, neither Klopp nor Lijnders will speak to the media as they're still isolating.

Instead, Peter Krawietz - who is recognised as Klopp's ‘other assistant’ - will take charge of media duties on Saturday.

If Klopp and Lijnders are still isolating, Krawietz could also be handed responsibility on the touchline.

Krawietz, 50, has been a long-time associate of Klopp's despite never playing football professionally.

They first met when Klopp took charge of Mainz in 2001. At the time, Krawietz was chief scout.

Klopp took Krawietz to Borussia Dortmund in 2008 where he was appointed assistant manager.

The pair led Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles, the Champions League final and German Cup and Supercup glory.

They also sign players such as Robert Lewandowski, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels at The Westfalenstadion.

When Klopp landed the job at Liverpool in October 2015, Krawietz again was immediately brought into his backroom staff.

At Anfield, they have guided the Reds to Champions League glory, the Premier League title, the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup.

Where are his strengths?

Krawietz's forte is in scouting and analysis. Given his background, that is hardly a surprise.

He has been given the nickname 'The Eye' by Klopp.

He also holds his Uefa Pro Licence.
