Diego Costa was set to undergo a late fitness test this morning ahead of Wolves’ FA Cup clash against Liverpool.

The Reds travel to Molineux this evening to face Julen Lopetegui for a third-round replay. The Premier League rivals fought out a 2-2 draw at Anfield earlier this month.

Veteran striker Costa has missed Wolves’ past three games due to a knock but has been in training.

And the former Spain international was set for a late assessment to see if he can feature against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Lopetegui said: “Diego is better. We have to check tomorrow morning to see if players are fit not or to help us to play.”

Pedro Neto, Chiquinho, Boubacar Traore and Sasa Kalajdzic have been ruled out of the clash for Wolves.

Lopetegui also admitted he was planning to make some other decisions on his starting line-up on the morning of the clash.

He said: “You have to look at the feeling of the player, and in the end, you have to take a decision. You have to know what players you can believe in or not [about fitness], because all the players want to play all the games, but sometimes it’s better to know the truth, to take a best decision, because it’s about picking the right team for each match.

“The line-up we are thinking, but we have to check how our players are, in the last moment. They are going to be better than today. We play at 8pm, not 3 o clock, it’s different, and we have the morning of tomorrow to take the decisions.”
