Liverpool’s impressive display in Milan last night would have been enough to warrant praise from fans and the wider world, but the 2-1 win was enough to set a new Champions League record.

Following the win against AC Milan, Liverpool became the first English club in the history of the Uefa Champions League to win all six of their group matches.

Despite falling behind on the 30 minute mark, Klopp’s men rallied and goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi sealed the famous win at the San Siro.

Origi made it two goals in two games for the Reds following his last gasp winner at Wolves on Saturday, and Salah continued his hugely successful season as he finished the group stage with seven goals in six games.

Supporters took to social media to praise their side’s performance and to call on people to take note of Liverpool as a force domestically and in Europe.

This group of Liverpool players was also described as “special” on more than one occasion in the aftermath of the victory.

One fan said: “Liverpool become the first English team to win all six matches in the UCL group stage

“This Liverpool side is special.”

The record was a major talking point with fans, and with good reason.

Several fans also pointed out that Liverpool have picked up as many points in the Champions League as Everton have currently in the Premier League.

Liverpool are having a season which should make sides, at home and abroad, sit up and take note.

Jurgen Klopps’ men will fear no-one in the next round of the Champions League, and few sides left in the competition will relish the prospect of a visit to Anfield next year.
