The FA Cup second round ends tonight and for the lower clubs in England’s football pyramid the next phase means an awful lot.

In the third round, teams that play in the Premier League and Championship enter the competition, and the thought of a big away day at one of the big boys, and the money that goes with it, is what the lower clubs dream of.

This is an exciting night for both Merseyside teams as it kicks off another FA Cup campaign and the chance of a trophy.

What is Liverpool’s history with the FA Cup?

Liverpool have won seven FA Cups in their history. They first won the cup in 1965 when they defeated Leeds United 2-1 at Wembley. Their most recent win was in 2006 against West Ham United, winning 3-1 on penalties.

Liverpool and Aston Villa are currently tied in fifth on the list of most FA Cup wins.

What is Everton’s History with the FA Cup?

Everton have won the cup five times, last winning the famous trophy in 199, with a 1-0 win against Manchester United. They first won the cup in 1906.

When is the draw?

The draw will be shown live on ITV 4 ahead of the live game between Boreham Wood and St Albans City. Coverage begins at 18.45, with the draw estimated to begin at around 19:00.

Who’s included in the draw?

In the previous two rounds, it’s only been League One, League Two and other lower league clubs which have got through the qualifiers.

In the third round, Championship and Premier League sides are now in the competition.

When are the ties played?

The third round will take place over the weekend of Friday, 7 January, to Monday, 10 January, 2022.
