Here are some of the great Halloween treats on offer across Liverpool this October.

Pick your own pumpkins

What is it? Spooky season is creeping up on us and what better way to get into the spirit than to pick your own pumpkins. We went to Church View Farm in Lydiate to film the video above, where entry is free and a wheelbarrow is provided to carry the pumpkins you pick. But we also have a largerlist of places in and around Liverpool to pick your own pumpkins.

When is it? October 1 to 31, Monday to Saturday 09:00 to 17:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 17:00.

Farmaggedon

What is it? An award-winning interactive horror experience, themed with roaming zombies and creatures of the night. This one is for those age 16 and over only. The park contains interactive scare attractions, a zombie paintball experience and a whole host of gruesome entertainments from live bands to magicians and specialist performers. New for 2021 is the Fear-Go-Round, Scaryoke and the Maze of Death.

When is it? Friday, 1 October, to Sunday, 31 October.

Ottersghoul

What is it? The activities park and play centre over in Otterspool has had a spooky make over, been renamed Ottersghoul and is putting on a series of events for all the family, including a pumpkin maze, Halloween parade, monster motel and Spooktacular show. The aforementioned activities are all available in both the Ottersghoul Event and Ottersghoul Party, check the Otterspool Adventure Centre website for more details.

When is it? Saturday, 23 October to Sunday, 31 October.

Ghost hunt and dinner

What is it? Haunted Rooms is offering a special three-course dinner and ghost hunt package on Halloween. Located in the Old Town Hall in Wavertree, Liverpool, the Victorian-era building and its spirits are awaiting your presence! After the meal, the lights go out and the fun begin as groups head off into various parts of the building to begin the ghost hunt.

Katumba Halloween Carnival

What is it? A Halloween themed carnival in the streets of Liverpool to mark the final day of the Routes and Roots Festival of the African Diaspora. Think drums, dance and fire! All performances will pop-up unexpectedly and spookily around L1. As organisers Katumba say: Come to town, keep your ear to the ground and follow the sounds!

When is it? Sunday, 31 October, between 16:30 and 21:00

Pumpkin, Spice and Everything Nice

What is it? If you are looking for something a little less scary and more carefree then this is the option for you. The Formby Hall Spar experience begins with a seasonally scented mud steam treatment (pumpkin pie or toffee apple) and includes a Halloween themed afternoon tea.

When is it? The Spa day runs throughout October. Halloween afternoon tea is only from Friday, 29 October, to Sunday, 31 October.

Fear Film Fest

What is it? The Bombed Out Church Fear Film Fest will show 14 flicks from Halloween onwards. From 80’s classics to family friendly frights and other’s that leave you keeping the light on at night! It begins with an open air cinema screening of Stephen King’s The Shining on Sunday. The Adams Family follows on Monday afternoon before a screening of Zombieland at night. Halloween warehouse rave

What is it? Well...it’s a Halloween warehouse rave at Hanger 34, with The Streets very own Mike Skinner, plus Bass heavyweight Darkzy and Window Kid. Dig out your fancy dress, get down there and join the party.

When is it? Friday, 29 October. 22:00 util 03:30.

The Bunker - theatrical experience

What is it? Six original horror stories presented by The Wing It theatre company. The Bunker performances are complete with music, shadow play and live sound effects. The team will tell their spooky tales each night of the Halloween weekend at Liverpool Arts Bar.

When is it? Friday, 29 October, Saturday, 30 October, and Sunday 31 October.
