Here’s LiverpoolWorld’s guide to some intriguing events across the city this weekend.

Rosé Weekender

What is it? It is a wine festival that will be held on the Albert Dock to mark the end of the city’s Great British Seaside summer campaign. There will be a pop-up bar, various bottomless brunch offers, rosé slushies and cocktails, afternoon tea and other of wine-themed events. The dock’s many bars and restaurants will be getting involved with special events and offerings, including Madre, Gusto, One O’Clock Gun and Maray.

When is it? Friday, 27 August, to Monday 30 August.

Hats Off to The Beatles

What is it? Beatles fans and hat lovers are being asked to don some Fab Four-related headwear and go down to the Pier Head take part in a Sky Arts TV shoot. As part of the Statues Redressed project The Beatles statue on the waterfront is being topped with song-themed hats - Penny Lane for Paul, Here Comes the Sun for George, Yellow Submarine for Ringo and Help! for John - and it will be filmed on Monday. Culture Liverpool is asking fans to come along in flamboyant hats to celebrate The Beatles and create a special moment for the TV broadcast. There’s no need to apply in advance, and there’s no limit on numbers.

When is it? Monday, 30 August.

Baltic Backyard Festival and Carnival Block Party

What is it? Two days of music and celebrations at Baltic Backyard. On Sunday it’s an all-day festival featuring a line-up of top Liverpool DJs including Billie Clements, Mick Willow and Ian Longo. Tickets available here. And on Bank Holiday Monday there is more of a Caribbean vibe with DJ’s playing dancehall, reggae, afrobeats and then moving into hip hop and jungle. Tickets available here.

When is it? Festival - Sunday, 29 August, 14.00 to 23.00, over-18s only. Block Party - Monday, 30 August, 14.00 to 22.00

Bootle Canalside Pop Up Market

What is it? A pop-up event with traders serving food and drink from around the world - ranging from Chinese, American, Polish and more, both savoury and sweet. There is also two bars serving coffee, beer, wine, cocktails, soft drinks and there is live entertainment, including Giant Beatles Walkabout Puppets, Charles Grassot and Mystic Bass.

When is it? Thursday, 26 August, to Monday, 30 August.

Mersey Sounds - Very Public Art

What is it? Unveiled on the Pier Head as part of the Very Public Art project, Mersey Sounds is a giant 12.5 metre sculpture with a handmade copper megaphone. It is a recreation of Liverpool’s Speaker’s Corner, which was situated on the waterfront until the mid-1990s. It symbolises the city’s tradition as a democratic city where its people have a voice and tell their own story.

When is it? Sunday 15 August to Tuesday 7 September

Liverpool Yoga Festival

What is it? Everything holistic. Grab your mat and head down to the huge open air Yoga Arena in one of the city’s most iconic open spaces in Stanley Park. Alongside all-day yoga, there is meditation, shamanic sound healing, ecstatic dance, hippie and holistic markets and healthy food. More info here.

When is it? Monday, 30 August. 10.00 to 17.00

What is it? Anthony Gormley’s ‘Iron Men’ has been settled in Crosby for a while but it was voted number six in a nationwide poll of the top 20 pieces of outdoor artwork in the UK this week. With the weather set fair (check out this five-day forecast) this Bank Holiday weekend why not head down to Crosby Beach to revisit the installation and make a day of it. Take a walk down the promenade to Crosby Coastal Park too.

When is it? Permanent.

Cowherd and the Weaver Girl - Very Public Art project

What is it? Part of Culture Liverpool’s Very Public Art project of eight art installations across the city, Cowherd and the Weaver Girl is an outdoor stage design which depicts a scene from the mythological story around which the Chinese festival, Qixi is based.

The installation invites people to step into a giant pop-up story book to become a feature in the narrative.

When is it? Saturday 14 August to Saturday 28 August

Lucian Freud: Real Lives - Tate Liverpool

What is it? Visitors to this exhibition will see paintings, etchings and photographs featuring the late British artist’s most recognised sitters including his first wife Kitty Garman.

AI: More than Human - World Museum

What is it? Elon Musk this week unveiled his plans to produce a prototype humanoid AI Tesla Bot next year. You can discover what the world of artificial intelligence (AI) is all about at Liverpool World Museum’s special exhibition. It is full of interactivity, including a robot dog called Aibo and the video game 2065, as visitors are given a vision of the future. Free for children.

When is it? Until 31 October.
