Liverpool have the second best attack in Europe according to data - who is better?

Liverpool have ranked as the second best attack in Europe according to goals per game.

The Reds have found the net 58 times in 22 league matches - a rate of 2.64 goals per game.

They sit behind only Bayern Munich, who have averaged a whopping 3.24 goals per game in the Bundesliga this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s former side, Borussia Dortmund, are joint third alongside Bayer Leverkusen with 2.57 goals per game, while Manchester City are the second best English side with 2.39.

Klopp’s men have been imperious going forward in their hunt for a second Premier League title in three seasons.

Their 58 goals are three more than Manchester City - despite playing a game less - and 10 more than third-placed Chelsea.

And they’ve scored in all but one of their 22 games, finding the net at least twice on 18 occasions.

Their average enjoyed a major boost during an 11-game period in 2021 in which they scored at least twice in every game and averaged 3.36 goals a game - including two 5-0 wins in a row against Watford and Manchester United.

Mo Salah has been top of the Premier League goalscoring charts for most of the season with 16 goals at a rate of 0.81 per 90.

But the Egyptian is someway down the pecking order compared to Robert Lewandowski (24 goals) and Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick (18 goals) - both have a goals per 90 average above 1.00 in the high-scoring Bundesliga.

Liverpool will be hopeful of increasing their goals per game average over the coming weeks as they play Leicester City on Thursday, followed by Burnley, Norwich City and Leeds United.
