Many lovely cats and dogs are in need of homes in Liverpool and Merseyside, including two kittens who were found dumped outside a veterinary practice.
While the RSPCA’s Liverpool branch has now closed, dozens of adorable animals are available to adopt in and around Liverpool, through the Wirral and Chester rescue centre (Wallasey) or the Southport, Ormskirk and District centre (Halsall).
A variety of dog breeds and cats of different ages are available, and they would love the chance to find a permanent place to call home as soon as possible and start their happy new lives.
Below are 14 cute cats and dogs up for adoption in Merseyside, including pairs of lovely felines who would prefer homes together. Take a look at the gallery and see if you could provide them with a fresh start.

5. Smithy
Smithy is a ten-year-old Lurcher. Smithy has a few lumps and bumps on his underside which the vet has said are fatty lumps, as a result of this, the RSPCA are looking for Smithy to go to a local foster home so that these can be monitored at the animal centre and would remain under the care of the local vet. He is located at the RSPCA Wirral and Chester branch. | RSPCA

6. Barney, Bumble and Blake
Meet Barney (short-haired black and white), Bumble (tortie) and Blake (long-haired black and white). Barney and Blake are boys and Bumble is a little girl. They are the sweetest trio, they're quite shy to begin with but are very playful at heart. The RSPCA would love for them to be rehomed all together but are willing to let them go as a pair and a single to somebody who's already got a cat. They are located at the RSPCA Wirral and Chester branch. | RSPCA

7. Flower and Pansy
Flower and Pansy are hoping to find a place to live the rest of their fluffy lives. They are located at the Wirral and Chester branch. | RSPCA

8. Lucky
Lucky is a five-year-old domestic short hair, who is ready for his new home. He would be best suited to an adult-only home. He is located at the Southport, Ormskirk and District RSPCA branch. | RSPCA
